"Promoting Intrinsic Motivation in the English Classroom" directly addresses a core educational challenge in education: how do we genuinely engage students and foster a lifelong love of learning. This session will equip teachers with actionable strategies to cultivate a classroom environment where students are driven by genuine interest and a desire for mastery, moving beyond passive reception to promote student agency and ownership. By understanding and implementing these active learning methodologies and motivational techniques, educators can inspire their students, equipping them with the drive necessary for success far beyond the classroom walls.

The aim of language is communicating personal, real, and meaningful ideas in various situations and having the ability to interact with various interlocutors in diverse situations. Language teaching and learning cannot be exempt from this aim and process. All English teachers are aware of it, but not always sure of how to implement strategies and activities, in class, that could truly promote skills that merge language competency and critical thinking. During this workshop, we’ll experience 5 easy-to-apply activities that provoke the analysis and conviction on how to use CLT strategies that boost communicative skills while making learners think critically and creatively, having the additional chance to be easily adapted to dissimilar classes and realities we all, as teachers, face.
