The role of teachers in the ever-evolving classroom
Indira León
In our classes, motivation plays a crucial role in learners' success. They start classes with high intrinsic or extrinsic motivation to start learning. However, many learners struggle to maintain their motivation, which has an impact on their progress. As teachers, we wonder, “what drives motivation in our students? How can we foster and sustain motivation? What strategies can be implemented in the classroom? In this session, we will answer these and other questions as we explore the psychological aspect of motivation and the impact of autonomy on students’ determination. We will share practical strategies and ideas to boost motivation when we see its levels going down. My hope is that all attendees go back to class with valuable insights and tools to enhance our students’ learning.

5 ready-to-use ideas to implement CLT in your classroom
Adhemir Saravia
The aim of language is communicating personal, real, and meaningful ideas in various situations and having the ability to interact with various interlocutors in diverse situations. Language teaching and learning cannot be exempt from this aim and process. All English teachers are aware of it, but not always sure of how to implement strategies and activities, in class, that could truly promote skills that merge language competency and critical thinking. During this workshop, we’ll experience 5 easy-to-apply activities that provoke the analysis and conviction on how to use CLT strategies that boost communicative skills while making learners think critically and creatively, having the additional chance to be easily adapted to dissimilar classes and realities we all, as teachers, face.
